I’m recruiting for an experienced Electrical Machine Tool Maintenance Engineer with strong Siemens Sinumerik 840D experience to join a global OEM machine tool manufacturer in a permanent onsite position at one of their key aerospace customers.
This is a technically demanding role suited to engineers who are confident working on high-end CNC machine tools, taking full ownership of electrical diagnostics, control systems and machine uptime in a precision aerospace environment.
The Role
- You will be working alongside a dedicated teams of engineers responsible for diagnosing and resolving control and drive-related faults on CNC machine tools.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Electrical fault finding on CNC machine tools using Siemens Sinumerik 840D
- Diagnostics on Siemens drives, motors, encoders and feedback systems
- PLC fault finding using Siemens online diagnostics (I/O, safety, interlocks)
- Troubleshooting axis, spindle and positioning errors
- Parameter management, data backups and control system recovery
- Supporting machine commissioning, upgrades and software-related issues
- Working alongside mechanical engineers to resolve complex breakdowns
- Liaising with OEM technical support for advanced fault resolution
- Maintaining detailed fault reports and service documentation
What I’m Looking For
- I’m specifically looking for engineers who have:
- Strong electrical maintenance background on CNC machine tools
- Proven hands-on experience with Siemens Sinumerik 840D (essential)
- Experience fault finding on Siemens servo and spindle drive systems
- Good understanding of CNC safety circuits and PLC-controlled systems
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics and Siemens diagnostics
- Confidence working independently in an onsite, customer-facing role
- Experience in aerospace manufacturing or other high-precision machining environments would be highly beneficial.
