Maintenance Engineer – Night Shift

The Opportunity
My client is seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join a highly skilled and supportive team responsible for keeping advanced aerospace manufacturing equipment running at peak performance. The Role
As a Maintenance Engineer, you’ll be hands-on with both reactive and planned maintenance across a wide range of conventional and CNC machine tools, plant, and associated equipment. You’ll play a vital role in diagnosing, repairing, and optimising systems that are central to the manufacture of large-scale aerospace components.

You’ll work a night shift pattern (7pm–7am) on a 17-week rotation:

• 17 weeks: Wednesday – Friday & every other Saturday
• 17 weeks: Sunday – Tuesday & every other Saturday
  (3 on – 4 off, 4 on – 3 off)

A generous 38% shift allowance applies to the first 35 hours, and 58% to any additional hours – significantly boosting your earning potential.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and troubleshoot machine tool axes, motors, gearboxes, bearings, hydraulics, pneumatics, guarding, and lubrication systems.
• Perform fault-finding and diagnostics on complex CNC machines and plant.
• Carry out machine alignment checks using slip gauges, ball bar tests, laser alignment, and clocking methods; adjust CNC parameters as required.
• Support associated plant maintenance (CNC milling, lathes, jig borers, gear cutters, robots, conveyors, coolant systems, etc.).
• Apply electrical appreciation, including diagnostics, calibration programmes, pump/motor disconnections, and resetting trips and fuses.

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience maintaining 4/5 axis CNC milling machines.
• Strong understanding of engineering drawings.
• Collaborative mindset with experience working in cross-functional teams.

Desirable but not essential:

• Previous night shift experience.
• IOSH/NEBOSH certification.
• Leadership skills or experience in a maintenance lead role.
